This weekend, I cast my vote for Kamala Harris and Elissa Slotkin, voting for my bodily and constitutional autonomy.

We have approached another major inflection point in the latest iteration of feminism. The stakes, in case you haven’t heard it enough in your environment or algorithms, are extremely high. What womxn have gained in a strong community and momentum on the margins of society, we’ve lost in great measure in the ownership, safety and empowerment of our bodies.

Our fashion choices have followed suit. Perhaps what I mean to say is suits. There’s a lot of tailoring and broad shouldered blazers going on right now, meeting women at the intersection of millennial nostalgia & return to office culture, but it’s also coming at a time when women are looking to lock in step together against existing (and potential) suppression. I’ve been keeping tabs on this trend development for a few months, and been too lazy to get a full post covering the topic, but after seeing Beyoncé endorse Kamala at her Houston tour stop in a Wardrobe NYC blazer dress I knew the damn thing needed to be done!

Womenswear in the office has thankfully taken a more expansive and gender inclusive route in recent years, opting for comfort and ease in what appears to the eye as casually clean and nonrestrictive. In its wake, office siren has picked up on the femme-coded expression within looks that are more bookish and body-hugging a la 90s and 00s. Somewhere in the middle of it all, an iconic silhouette that was once symbolic of a different wave of feminism has been resurrected.
