Heyyyyy mamas! Checking in from sunny London with freckly shoulders + a hopeful one shade darker skin — I have washed away any memories of the ugly ugly gloom the weather was holding for the city this week. It really takes one good weekend of friends, fun and sun to make you forget anything existed before this very moment!!
With that said, it’s been a minute since my last Vibe Check (previous roundup here) and oooh am I feeling extra energized and refreshed by the things that have made it to the mood board for the season. From male muses to DIY summer shirting, here’s the shortlist of what will be living in my head rent free for the foreseeable. Enjoy!!
GARDEN PARTIES AND PARK FITS
This is what we’re made for! Run it!!!
Lean into mismatching prints, lacy doily-looking tops with tiny shorts or frilly skirts (or even trackies), boxers with boots and the like. It’s all about making the seemingly unpresentable items in your closet come into the limelight for some weird fits that just feel right. The dress code is comfortable enough to roll around in the grass, shoes that communicate more city than outdoorsy (if you’re in London Fields, an adidas special/samba/gazelle or Docs), yet flirty and eye-catching because obviously people-watching is one of the top activities on the park hang itinerary after crushing a few tinnies.
HATS AND HEADSCARVES
Everyone is talking about Hailey Bieber’s pregnancy announcement, and as excited as I am about a baby Biebs I’m more concerned with her recent hat + silk headscarf combos that she’s been stepping out in. I love!!!
LAURA HARRIER THE MENSWEAR GODDESS YOU ARE…
Since going bob, I feel like all my menswear-leaning garments have pulled through with a newfound pizzazz, so I’ve gone to the mood board to find a few tall-girl-short-hair muses: Olivia Joan Galli, Laura Harrier and (naturally) Kendall Jenner. They’ve just got the silhouette down to a science — long lines, maintaining legginess or cinched waistlines even with looser garments, and a sound loafer game. I just copped a pair of burgundy loafers (!!!) that I’m geeked to wear all summer, and am on the hunt for more elevated accessories (belts, watches in particular) to really nail the formula.
I love this one of Laura with the flip flops and baseball cap…
KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!
I think what everyone is loving about The Row thong sandals lies in the KISS method which really comes to a head in summer dressing. One could argue there are all these fun, strappy, likely multicolored sandals/mules/jellies vying for your attention, but do they hold a candle to some basic ass black thong sandals? They help show some skin when paired with linen pants or wide leg trousers, keep dressier clothes casual, and provide a hot weather high-low variation. Havianas even have a square toe, slim strap SKU now, which I can’t believe I’m saying makes it elevated, but I am.
LIME BIKE SCREAM SING
On Wednesday evening I cycled the 40 minutes home from Covent Garden in absolute bliss; nothing is more freeing than coasting through the streets singing Birds of a Feather as loud as you can! Carving out more time in my schedule to Lime like this more often.
FASHION IS POLITICAL
Cate Blanchett and Bella Hadid used their Cannes fashion to keep eyes on Rafah. Claudia Jessie wore the same suit for the entire press run for Bridgerton. Even if you don’t have a platform per se, I think these are such great examples of how political fashion truly can be. When we live in a world where posting an infographic is perceived as activism (no more AI renders please! let’s stick to spreading the word from the victims trying to get their voice heard), this serves as a healthy reminder that there’s more areas of your life where you can be making a statement — your closet, for one. Take a good look at your clothing and engage with the values you’re putting on display.
JPG
I have been curating a list in my Notes of different design eras that I love or want to study up on more, and after seeing a few pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier’s 1997 collections over the weekend I’ve found my new North Star. It gives the kind of sexy-slinky, vibrant, take-no-shit-yet-carefree vibes that I adore about Roberto Cavalli or Save the Queen. It gives a certain charge to a night out for dinner and drinks!
ZACH FOX IS ON THE CRUSH LIST
I didn’t know Tariq got it like thatttttt! He’s also got an incredible collection of hats. Janine Teagues fumbled the bag I’m afraid.
What’s on your summer mood board? Would love to hear what you’re wearing and where xx
Happy Junie moonie!!!

We’ve talked about this, but truly - any Danielle Goldberg adjacent woman is a superstar. Never fails
